Splendor in the grass

There's something special about late-night and early-morning FM radio I think. The midnight-to-6am listeners are a different breed than some of the 6am-and-beyond morning radio show listeners. A couple days ago while on my way into work at 5am, I was fortunate enough to hear the second half of the song "When the music's over" by the Doors. I guess it’s not really THAT much of a B-side or rarity, but its definitely not a mid-morning radio friendly track.
Days like that, "when the music is your special friend," have seemed to be far and few ...that is until very recently. For a long time I've struggled to find creativity in my songwriting; cliché' ex-girlfriend themed verses that once dominated my dry-erase board have been replaced with simple eloquent verses that conjure up images of spirited youth, of say a character from a Jack Kerouac novel. The drop-D turning that used to be the backdrop for just about every song I ever wrote has now been replaced with half-step tuning variances and capos that go as far up the neck as the fourth-fret.

In other words, I got my swagger back! And for the past few months I've been scrapping ol' Three Strike Loser chord progressions that never made it past the garage stage for completely brand new ones ...the plan is to post them along with my blogs so come on back!

Happy Easter, Christ has risen!
