In times of peace, prepare for war!

Take from this what you will, but I am a patriot!

About a year ago I decided to take a break from the military and focus on my last year in college.

For eight years I dedicated every day of my life to a mission, a mission that some people took very seriously and respected, but also a mission that some people (even in high leadership positions) took for granted and abused their power. The latter part of this is important because it degrades the very foundation of what service-members believe and when it is combined with the day-to-day military life, it can leave permanent scarring.

This sentiment of preparing for war has played a huge part in so many service member's lives recently because for a lot of us, it's all we've known. From day one, training has begun, and while it is a necessity during war to train, how far does it have to go? Where is the line drawn between training for combat and obsessing about it? Is it even possible to be turned off once it's on?

I'm writing this because there is a new generation of soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines out there who only know wartime operations. Each one of them has a story, each story is important and each one needs to be heard!

I urge you to get out there and become active with veterans in your own community!
