What are you thankful for?

Well, its turkey time …almost! And in keeping with the tradition of giving thanks during this time of year, I’d like to let y’all know what I’m thankful for. This year isn’t quite over just yet, but 2012 has been a pretty eventful one to say the least; some good and some not-so-good. So, without further adieu, here we go!
A good friend passed away earlier this year, but his passing helped me reconnect with old friends, make new ones and revitalized my belief in Christ. I often think about the short amount of time I spent with Joshua, his family, the small group and will be forever thankful!
I’m thankful to my College of Charleston family for providing me with a wonderful place to learn and grow these past couple years. All the hard work paid off and I walked across the Cistern a bonafide Cougar alumnus on May 12th. Perhaps more importantly though are people who helped celebrate. My North Carolina kin drove four hours just to be there, I'm so thankful to have people like that in my life!
I’ve learned that my family is incredible and it doesn’t matter what the situation is; they are always there, it might not be what you want, but it's what you need. My dad in particular comes to mind in this last part. This isn't to say that any other family member does any less, but I don't think I've ever met anyone who embodies the Air Force's core values the way he does. Especially, "service before self," I bring this up because my dad has dedicated his life to helping others in need. And for that, I'm very thankful!

Enjoy the clip from Planes, Trains and Automobiles, my favorite holiday movie!
