Christmas has come and gone and although it was very low-key
this year it was still great. After all, this is the first time in almost 10
years I didn’t have to travel to be with family. My sister and brother-in-law
were right here to celebrate Jesus’ birthday with me.
Even though I did have to work this holiday, I’m not
complaining because I’ve got exactly what I asked for …more clarity in my
relationship with Christ. I’m not where I want to be or should be yet in this
quest, but I’m getting closer each day!
Lately, I’ve been thinking about new-years resolutions. People
make resolutions in order to solve problems. Last year my resolution was to
quit smoking; problem solved! Last year’s resolution centered on me and this
year’s one isn’t going to be any different, but I’m not a selfish person, I
want to help those around me. This year, I’m going to work on being a more
effective NCO.
Yesterday started out like any other day but it couldn’t
have ended any better. I got to catch up with some friends I have seen in a
while. The night consisted of tacos and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” Uno. While my
friend may be living the dream, I’m just glad his dream isn’t my reality yet. One
day it’ll happen, I’m just glad it hasn’t happened yet because I would have
settled for less than I deserve.
No fake, this morning was amazing. I woke up, picked up the
acoustic, started playing and wrote an entire song. It’s entitled “On any given
night!” I hate to reference Aerosmith because they’re just shlock-rock at best,
but “I’m back in the saddle again.” I haven’t felt this musically creative
since the garage-days of Three Strike Loser. Everything from the chord
progression, to the bridge; from the verse to the chorus sounds and feels solid!
I’ve got a lot to look forward to in the coming year. Let’s
just say I’ll be traveling A LOT!
